Our Mission
The mission of the Jubilee is to unite Kansas City area educational, cultural and film organizations in a celebration of local independent filmmaking, enhance opportunities for the filmmaker to develop their craft and art, and increase the public’s awareness and support of local filmmaking as a cultural and economic asset.
Our Vision
The Jubilee aspires to become a premiere cultural event in the Kansas City area, attracting regional and national recognition, audiences and visiting artists from around the world. Local filmmakers will be enabled to create work that is the artistic, creative and technical equal of films made any where in the world.
Goals
Short Term, the Jubilee Seeks:
- To build and strengthen the relationships between the sponsoring organizations and facilitate the growth and improvement of each organization’s film program;
- Provide local filmmakers a venue, encouragement and opportunities to practice and improve their art and craft;
- Increase Kansas City metro public’s awareness and support of the local film community as a cultural and economic asset;
- Attract nationally and internationally know film professionals to Kansas City for seminars and screenings of their work.
Long Term, the Jubilee Aspires:
- To build collaborative relationships with other film organizations and businesses throughout the metro area, the region and the nation;
- To increase the number of Kansas City filmmakers producing feature length and short films that are nationally recognized;
- To become a major regional/national showcase of independent film from Kansas City and around the world that will be an event attracting visitors and press from across the nation;
- To make the Jubilee a premiere cultural event in Kansas City.
